Dallen First Elk
Kommer Orange Skinner
Dallen's Cow Elk

Oct. 2009
It was the coolest moment being there with my 12 year old son. He made a picture perfect 205 yard shot in a split second of time as the elk where moving through the brush. I couldn't be more proud. Taking him varmint hunting really sharpened his skills and paid off well today.

Russ, the knife was just awesome! Here are some notes on my new small orange semi-skinner knife.

  • This was the first time I used only one knife from start to finish.
  • I boned the elk out one hour faster than normal...and I wasn't trying to go fast.
  • I sat the knife down at one point and then needed it and made the comment "Now where's my knife." My son quickly says "Right there Dad, good thing it's bright orange instead of camo..." Honest, those were my 12 year olds words. Exactly why I wanted a brightly colored knife.
  • This was the first time I went from start to finish without sharpening my knife.
  • The knife cleans very quickly compared to the folders I normally use.
  • The sizing was perfect even for getting out the tenderloin without puncturing the gusts.

Awesome knife Russ! Thanks for helping me see the light as to what a real knife should be like.

Dallen did it again! I had another wonderful day in the field with my son. Hunting offers such a great opportunity to spend quality time with your kids.

Dallen shot this cow at 272 yards. One shot through the broiler room and she was finished. Two shots and two elk!

I used the knife again. What a joy! I wish I had this knife 20 years ago. I wanted to let you know that I haven't ran this blade on anything to sharpen it. It boned out this animal in a breeze — razor sharp through two elk! Awesome knife!

Thanks again,
